João is a Director in H.I.G.’s London office where he focuses on investments across a range of industries, including TMT and Healthcare.

Prior to joining H.I.G., João worked at AMERRA Capital and Lead Edge Capital, both US based private equity firms. João started his career at Bain & Company, where he spent most of his time helping Private Equity firms with commercial due diligence and post-acquisition work.

João holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and a MSc in Civil Engineering from the Instituto Superior Tecnico.

Luciano Anzanello is a Principal in our Milan office. Prior to joining H.I.G., Luciano spent more than twelve years in the mergers and acquisitions industry, both as advisor and investor.

As partner at Atlantis Partners in Milan, the leading independent institutional investment firm focused on Italian mid-size companies in Special Situations, Luciano focused on investments in Manufacturing, Consumer Products, Media and Green Energy companies.

Before that, Luciano was a manager with H&C in Milan, an industrial family office, where he completed several investments in a broad range of sectors and situations, including start-ups, buyouts and restructurings. Previously, Luciano worked in Camuzzi Group, a multinational utility company.

Luciano graduated in Economy of International Commerce and Currency Market from University of Trieste.

Tuna Atay

Tuna Atay

Tuna is a Principal of H.I.G. Realty Partners based in London. He is responsible for originating, structuring and executing real estate transactions across Europe.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Tuna was at Brookland Partners focusing on real estate debt and CMBS restructurings. Previously, Tuna worked at Lehman Brothers in their Global Real Estate Group with a focus on real estate backed transactions. During this time, he structured and executed UK and pan-European CMBS deals with total issuance in excess of €3 billion and he also focused on distribution of Lehman’s European real estate debt products.

Tuna holds an MPhil degree in Real Estate Finance from the University of Cambridge, Sidney Sussex College.

Antoine Baudesson

Antoine Baudesson

Antoine Baudesson, Principal, Paris. Prior to joining H.I.G., Antoine worked as an Investment Manager in the private equity arm of the Quilvest Group in London and in Paris, where he notably participated in the analysis, structuring and monitoring of various direct transactions in Europe, the Middle-East and Mexico. He was also involved in the Fund of Funds activity of the Quilvest Group with coverage of the French territory.

Antoine graduated with an MSc from HEC, Paris and with a CEMS Master in International Management from the Copenhagen Business School.

Jaime Bergel

Wolfgang Biedermann

Wolfgang Biedermann

Wolfgang Biedermann, Executive Managing Director and Head of Europe buyouts, leads H.I.G.'s private equity team in Europe and is the firm's German country head. Wolfgang, a German national, was prior to H.I.G. the CEO of Pricap Venture Partners, an investment firm he co-founded in 2000 focused on small buyouts and growth capital investments in Germany.

Previously, he was a Managing Director of Thomas J.C. Matzen GMBH, a small cap buyout firm founded by Thomas Matzen who built Schroders (today Permira) in Germany. Before that, he was with Schroders Private Equity in Germany and BCG in Germany for three years.

Wolfgang earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and speaks English, German, Italian, and French.

Ignacio Blasco

Ignacio Blasco

Ignacio is a Managing Director at H.I.G. WhiteHorse. He is based in the Madrid office and is responsible for all key aspects of private debt transactions in Spain, including deal origination, transaction structuring and negotiating, and post-closing portfolio company oversight. He has 30 years of experience in finance and investment banking, with most of his career focusing on structured and leveraged loans.

Prior to joining H.I.G., he was a Managing Director at Houlihan Lokey’s Corporate Finance division in Madrid, being responsible for Capital Markets Advisory and Financial Sponsor Coverage. Before that, Ignacio was a Managing Partner at Montalbán Debt Funds.

From 2011 to 2016, Ignacio was Head of Leveraged Capital Markets EMEA for Société Générale in London. Before that, he was Head of Leveraged and Acquisition Finance for Société Générale in Spain.

Ignacio holds a Law degree from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and an M.B.A. from ESADE in Barcelona.

Dominik Böhm

Dominik Böhm

Dominik is a Principal in H.I.G. Europe’s Hamburg office, where he focuses on LBO and growth equity investments, in particular in the TMT and industrials sectors. Dominik is responsible for all aspects of the investment process and represents H.I.G. on the board of several portfolio companies.

Prior to joining H.I.G., he worked for six years with McKinsey & Company as an Engagement Manager. As part of the Corporate Finance, Private Equity and Restructuring Practice he advised various corporates and medium-sized companies and supported several M&A transactions. Before McKinsey & Company, Dominik developed software for small and medium-sized companies on a freelance basis.

Dominik earned an M.B.A., with distinction, from INSEAD in France and Singapore and studied at the University of Münster, Germany, and at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid obtaining a dual diploma degree in mathematics and computer science.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Tobias co-led the private equity investment operations of a well known family office in London. Before that, he was a Principal at Rhône Group, a global private equity firm, where he focused on a diverse range of investments, including leveraged buy-outs and corporate carve-outs, across several industries and geographies. He started his career in M&A with Citigroup in London.

Tobias earned a B.A. from International School of Management, Dortmund, Germany.

Kenneth Borton

Kenneth Borton

Kenneth Borton is a Managing Director of H.I.G. WhiteHorse in London, with a focus on primary lending in the U.K. Mr. Borton has over seventeen years of experience in direct lending, investment banking, structured finance and special situations. Prior to joining H.I.G. WhiteHorse, he was a Managing Director at Citi with responsibility for the Credit Opportunities business in EMEA, managing over $500 million of direct lending transactions across sectors and throughout the region.

Mr. Borton received a BSc in Economics and Politics from the University of Bristol. After university, Mr. Borton spent 6 years as an infantry officer in the British Army.

Charles Bourgeois

Charles is a Principal at H.I.G. WhiteHorse based in the Paris office. He focuses on the French market and is responsible for all key aspects of private debt transactions, including deal origination, transaction structuring and negotiation, and post-closing portfolio company oversight. He has 13 years of experience in direct lending and corporate finance.

Prior to joining H.I.G., he was an Executive Director in the Private Debt division of Tikehau Capital in Paris. Before that, Charles worked at GE Capital, SG and LD&A Jupiter.

Charles holds an MSc in Management from EMLyon Business School.

Olivier Boyadjian

Olivier Boyadjian

Olivier Boyadjian, Managing Director, France. Olivier heads up H.I.G.'s team in France. Prior to joining H.I.G., Olivier was the head of the investment team at CDC Capital Investissement, managing a fund in excess of €700 Million. At CDC, he led a number of successful private equity investments in France.

Prior to that, Olivier was the head of leverage finance for Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) in France, where he led a significant number of financings for private equity transactions.

Olivier has earned a MA degree in corporate law, from CNAM Paris and subsequently received an MA degree in business from Lyon University.

Sean Britain

Sean is a Managing Director of H.I.G. Bayside Capital’s credit and special situations strategy in the U.S. He is responsible for all aspects of the investment process, including sourcing, transaction structuring, and portfolio company oversight. Sean has led numerous successful Bayside investments and sits on the Investment Committee for the Bayside U.S. funds.

Sean has over 20 years of credit, special situations, and private equity investing experience. Before joining Bayside, Sean was a Principal at Apax Partners, a global private equity firm. He began his investment career at Saunders Karp & Megrue, a middle market U.S. private equity firm.

Mr. Britain received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Wake Forest University.

Javier Casillas

Javier Casillas

Javier is Global Chief Credit Officer and Managing Director of H.I.G. Whitehorse. Mr. Casillas has over 20 years of experience in credit, private equity and mergers and acquisitions. As an original member of H.I.G.’s direct lending team, Mr. Casillas is involved in all aspects of the investment process, including sourcing, structuring, and portfolio management. Mr. Casillas is also active in the recruitment and development of the credit team for H.I.G. WhiteHorse.

Mr. Casillas joined H.I.G. in 2006 and has led credit investments across a broad range of sectors, including healthcare, business services, and specialty finance. Prior to joining H.I.G. Whitehorse, Mr. Casillas was with ING Americas and JP Morgan.

Mr. Casillas received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his M.B.A. from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.

Andrea Cervesato

Andrea is a Director in H.I.G. Capital's Milan office, where he focuses on LBO and growth equity investments across a range of industries. Andrea has responsibility for all aspects of the investment process, and sits on the board of several H.I.G. portfolio companies.

Prior to joining H.I.G. Capital in 2014, Andrea worked at Boston Consulting Group, with a specific focus on the Industrial goods sector, working on profitability and growth projects. Andrea also worked in the corporate finance department of PwC, focusing on M&A transactions in the mid-sized Italian market.

Andrea graduated in Economics and Business Administration at Bocconi University in Milan.

Alessandro Correnti

Alessandro is a Director in the London office of H.I.G.’s Bayside Capital, where he focuses on corporate stressed and distressed credit and special situations in Europe. He is responsible for all aspects of the investment process, from origination and research, to structuring, execution and portfolio monitoring.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Alessandro worked in the Investment Banking Division of Credit Suisse in London, where he advised clients on M&A, equity and debt transactions, primarily in the transport and logistics and business services sectors.

Alessandro earned his BSc in Economics and Finance and his MSc in Finance from Bocconi University in Milan, studying also at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and at the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics.

Riccardo Dallolio

Riccardo is Managing Director and Head of the H.I.G. Realty Fund in Europe. He is located in H.I.G.'s London office and is responsible for investment origination, transaction structuring and oversight of the European portfolio.

With over 20 years in the real estate industry, Riccardo has extensive investment and transactional experience across a number of jurisdictions in Europe. Prior to H.I.G. Capital, he was at AXA RE, where he was Head of Alternatives and Special Situations. During his time at AXA RE, he also held the position of Head of Transaction Europe and Head of Asset Management and Transactions in France. Prior to AXA RE, Riccardo worked at Grove International Partners, and before that in the JPMorgan Partners Real Estate Group in London.

Riccardo holds an MSC in Finance from Bocconi University and studied at The Wharton School of Business.

Rob de Bruin

Rob de Bruin

Rob is a Principal in H.I.G. WhiteHorse and is based in Amsterdam, where he focuses on direct lending activities in Benelux. Rob is responsible for originating and executing debt financings to middle market companies.

Rob has 12 years of experience in various leveraged finance roles, having worked at Lloyds Banking Group, Jefferies, NatWest Markets and NIBC previously. He has primarily focused on leveraged finance and sponsor coverage in the UK and Benelux, originating a wide range of financing structures including senior, stretched senior, "ABL plus cash flow", "first-out, last-out" and super senior facilities for sponsor-led transactions.

Rob earned a MSc in Finance and Investments from the Erasmus University Rotterdam.

José Mª de León is a Principal of H.I.G. Capital based in Spain. He focuses on growth, LBO and special situations investments in the Iberian Peninsula.

Before joining H.I.G., he worked at Gala Capital Partners, a leading Spanish Mid-Market Private Equity firm, completing several transactions in a diverse range of industries and situations.

Emeric Déramaux is a Director of H.I.G. based in the Paris office. Prior to joining H.I.G. in 2016, he worked as a Principal in the private equity team of the strategy consulting firm Roland Berger. Previously, Emeric was a Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Paris and New York.

Emeric graduated with an MSc in Finance from ESCP Europe Business School (Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris).

Richard Dunn

Richard is a Director in H.I.G. Europe’s London office and focuses on leveraged buy-out opportunities across a range of industries, including Business Services and Healthcare. He is responsible for all aspects of the investment process.

Before joining H.I.G., Richard was a member of the deal team at Terra Firma Capital Partners and, prior to that, started his career at Rothschild & Co.

Richard obtained a First Class BSc in Mathematics and Economics from the London School of Economics.

Till Dunnwald

Till is a Director of H.I.G. Bayside Capital and is based in the London office, where he focuses on distressed European corporate debt and special situations. He is responsible for all aspects of the investment process, including research, structuring and execution.

Till has over 6 years of experience in performing and distressed credit investing across a broad range of industries in Europe. Prior to joining Bayside, Till was at Park Square Capital focusing on senior and mezzanine debt investments.

Till holds a BSc from Maastricht University SBE and a MSc in accounting and finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Omar El Masri

Omar El Masri

Omar is a Director on the London Real Estate Team, where he focuses on asset backed special situation strategies across Europe. He is responsible for all aspects of the investment process, including originating, structuring, financing and executing post-closing operational strategies. Omar has extensive experience investing across a wide range operational and traditional real estate strategies across the capital stack.

Omar joined H.I.G. from Queensgate Investments, where he was a Director focused on the acquisition, turnaround, expansion and restructuring of hotels and other asset backed operating businesses and worked on the acquisition of over EUR 2.5Bn worth of hotel and other operational real estate platforms. Prior to Queensgate, Omar was at the private family office of Christian Candy where he worked on residentially led UK structured finance and special situation opportunities. Omar started his career at Oxford Properties.

Omar holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics & Economics from Royal Holloway, University of London and a Masters in Real Estate Investments from Cass Business School.

Jérôme Fouillé

Jérôme is a Managing Director in H.I.G. Capital's London office, where he focuses on pan-European real estate investments for H.I.G. Realty Partners.

Jérôme has more than 15 years of experience in real estate private equity. Prior to joining H.I.G. Capital in 2019, Jérôme worked for GIC, Colony Capital and Heitman, where he completed over +€1 billion of equity and debt investments in real estate and asset heavy platforms across Europe. His experience ranges from Core Plus to Opportunistic investments, including portfolio acquisition, distressed investments, property developments and corporate acquisitions.

Jérôme earned an M.B.A. from London Business School and undergraduate degree in Finance and Economics from Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Rouen.

Mihai Gavriloiu

Mihai Gavriloiu

Mihai is a Principal of H.I.G. Realty Partners in the London office. Mihai is focused on European NPLs and real estate special situations, involving all aspects of the investment process from origination and negotiation to structuring and execution. He is also responsible for investing and monitoring real estate investments across Europe including France.

Prior to joining H.I.G. Realty Partners, Mihai worked for Moelis & Company, a global investment bank, where he focused on corporate restructuring advisory. Previously, Mihai was in the Corporate & Investment Banking Division of BNP Paribas in London concentrating on corporate restructurings. Mihai started his career as an auditor working for Deloitte in France.

Mihai is a graduate of EM Lyon Business School and of Paris-Sorbonne University.

Stefano Giambelli

Stefano is a Managing Director in the European Middle Market team in London and is responsible for covering the Italian market as well as Consumer investments across Europe.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Stefano was a partner and founding member of Amlon Capital, an investment vehicle focused on consumer goods and retail. Prior to Amlon Capital, Stefano worked at Apax Partners and BC Partners in London and Milan. He started his career in investment banking at Citigroup and Merrill Lynch in London.

Stefano holds a degree from the Bocconi University in Milan and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Sam has over 15 years of credit investing experience in a broad range of industries, including media, telecommunications, business services, retail, industrial, and specialty finance. Before joining WhiteHorse Capital, Sam was a Vice President with Cerberus Capital Management. In this role, he was responsible for the origination, structuring, execution and monitoring of private debt investments. Prior to Cerberus, Sam worked in the leverage finance and mergers & acquisitions groups at Salomon Brothers.

Sam received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Denison University and a dual M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and London Business School.

Keith Green

Keith Green

Keith is a Principal with H.I.G. WhiteHorse based in London. He is responsible for originating and executing debt financings to middle market companies, with a focus on Private Equity clients in the UK market.

Keith has over 15 years of experience, having worked at Lloyds Banking Group, ING Bank and National Australia Bank previously. He has primarily focused on leveraged finance debt products covering first and second lien facilities, asset-backed facilities, high yield bonds, bridge financing and mezzanine financing to assist clients in raising capital for acquisitions, leveraged buy-outs, refinancings and recapitalisations.

Keith earned a BSc in Economics and Business Finance from Brunel University.

Giovanni is a Managing Director in H.I.G.’s Milan office, and is responsible for the whole investment process from deal origination, transaction structuring and negotiation, to post-closing portfolio company management.

Giovanni has over 15 years of experience of private equity, mostly gained while at Synergo, a private equity firm focused on mid-market investments. While at Synergo, Giovanni, lately as a Partner, completed a number of buyouts and growth capital investments across a wide range of industries including business services, industrial manufacturing, healthcare, and information technology.

Giovanni earned a Master of Science, summa cum laude, in Corporate Finance and an undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, in Business Administration from Bocconi University.

John is a Managing Director and Head of the LBO Fund’s London team, responsible for leading investments in the UK, Ireland, Holland and the Nordic region. He has 26 years’ experience of mid-market private equity investing.

John started his career at HSBC Private Equity in London and Düsseldorf and subsequently held senior positions at Duke Street and LDC. Prior to joining H.I.G., he was a Partner at Inflexion. John has originated, transacted and exited numerous investments across sectors including financial and business services, manufacturing, healthcare, IT and consumer and leisure.

John speaks German and French and holds a BA in Modern Languages from Durham University.

Alexandru Hristea

Alex is a Director at H.I.G. WhiteHorse, based in the London office. He is responsible for transaction underwriting and execution, and post-closing portfolio company oversight.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Alex was at Barclays in London within the Leveraged Finance team. He had previous experiences in private equity with Nordic Capital and leveraged finance with Morgan Stanley.

Alex holds a MSc in Economics and International Financial Economics from the University of Warwick and a BSc in Economics and Finance from the University of York.

Elias Huchler

Elias Huchler

Elias is a Principal in the London office of H.I.G. Capital. He focuses on European corporate debt situations and is involved in all aspects of the investment process from origination and research, to structuring and execution.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Elias was a Senior Associate in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley where he worked on a wide range of M&A, equity and debt capital market transactions, primarily in the healthcare and energy sectors. He previously worked at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London and Istanbul where he completed various equity and debt investments in CEE, CIS and Turkey.

Elias received a B.A. in Business from ESB Reutlingen, an M.A. in Economics from College of Europe in Bruges and an M.B.A. from the London Business School. He is also a CFA charterholder.

Johannes Huttunen is a Principal in our London office, covering growth equity, leveraged buy-out and distressed investments across the United Kingdom and the Nordic region.

Prior to joining H.I.G. in 2014, Johannes worked at Silverfleet Capital, a pan-European mid-market private equity fund, where he focused on investments in the UK and Nordic region. Previously, he was at European Capital, working on UK buyouts, and in the Investment Banking Division of Deutsche Bank in London, concentrating on Mergers & Acquisitions.

Johannes obtained a First Class BSc Honours degree in Management Sciences from the London School of Economics and a Masters in Finance from the London Business School.

Rohin Jain

Rohin is a Managing Director in H.I.G.’s London office. He is responsible for all key aspects of the private investment transaction process including deal origination, transaction structuring and negotiating, and post-closing portfolio company oversight. Rohin is a member of the Investment Committee of the Europe Middle Market fund.

Rohin has over 15 years of experience in Private Equity covering a wide range of sectors, regions and investment strategies. Prior to joining H.I.G. in 2020, he lead the Healthcare Sector Team at Triton Partners. Prior to that, he worked at Mistral Equity Partners and UBS Investment Bank.

Rohin has a BScE and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Philipp Kalveram

Philipp is a Director in H.I.G. Europe’s Hamburg office, where he focuses on private equity and growth equity investments, particularly in the industrials, healthcare, and TMT sectors. Philipp is responsible for all aspects of the investment process.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Philipp has worked with McKinsey & company as a Senior Engagement Manager in private equity and strategy consulting for eight years where he advised various international corporations and private equity funds in strategy development, operational excellence, and M&A transactions.

Philipp earned an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School in New York City and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and business law from EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht in Oestrich-Winkel, Germany.

Florian Kawohl

Florian is a Managing Director of Bayside Capital and splits his time between the Hamburg and London offices. Florian is focused on European non-control distressed corporate debt situations with an emphasis on distressed and stressed credits in the German speaking markets. He is involved in all aspects of the investment process from origination and research to structuring and execution.

Florian has over 20 years of relevant experience across a broad range of industries including chemicals, building materials and general industrials. He spent the majority of his working life in European distressed debt investing but also has experience in principal investing and management consulting.

Prior to joining Bayside, Florian spent 14 years at Strategic Value Partners, a distressed and deep-value investment firm, where he was a Managing Director. Prior to this, Florian was an Associate Director at Carlyle Group Private Equity and a Senior Associate at McKinsey & Company.

Florian earned a German law degree from the University of Hamburg and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Richard is a Principal of H.I.G. Realty based in London and is part of the real estate group’s structured finance investments team, with responsibility for structuring and deal execution.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Richard was a member of Deutsche Bank’s European commercial real estate finance team, working on real estate lending, securitisation and distressed debt transactions across Europe. Prior to Deutsche Bank, Richard qualified as a lawyer and practiced in Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP’s private equity and real estate finance team.

Richard holds a degree in law from the University of Oxford.

Holger Kleingarn

Holger Kleingarn

Holger Kleingarn, Managing Director and Head of H.I.G.’s German office, is a German national who has been working in the Private Equity Industry for over fifteen years. Throughout his private equity career Dr. Kleingarn has focused on mid cap buyouts, growth investments and turnarounds across Europe with a focus on the German-speaking countries.

Prior to joining H.I.G. Capital, he was a Partner and Member of the Management Committee at London-based Palamon Capital Partners, a private equity group focusing on mid-sized companies across Europe. Previously Holger led the management-buy-out of a Mittelstand software company as CEO. He started his career in strategic management consulting with Bain & Company and Roland Berger, most recently as Partner and member of its financial services management team.

Holger holds a doctoral degree in business administration from the University of Federal Armed Forces in Munich and graduated from the University of Hamburg.

Marcel is a Principal at H.I.G. WhiteHorse in London, where he focuses on providing financing to middle market companies across Europe. Marcel has extensive experience investing in the European middle market, covering both credit and equity transactions across a broad range of industries, jurisdictions and risk profiles. Prior to joining H.I.G., Marcel was an analyst in the investment banking division of J.P. Morgan in London, where he worked on several M&A and capital market transactions.

Marcel earned a BSc from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany.

Christian Kraul-von Renner is a Managing Director in our Hamburg office. Prior to joining H.I.G. in 2007, he was a senior consultant with L.E.K. Consulting in Munich and London, where he advised numerous financial and strategic investors in merger & acquisition situations. In addition, he supported larger corporations in the course of portfolio valuations and implementing growth strategies.

Before L.E.K., he worked as a consultant with the Brand Science Institute, a research-based consultancy.

Christian obtained a Diploma in Business Administration at the University of Hamburg. During his studies he worked over one year in New York and London.

Raffaele Legnani, Managing Director, heads up H.I.G.'s activities in Italy. Raffaele has been investing in the Italian private equity market since 1996.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Raffaele was founding partner of Atlantis Partners in Milan, the leading independent institutional investment firm focused on Italian mid-size companies in Special Situations. Before that, Raffaele has successfully invested in a significant number of buyout transactions, both directly and through specialized private equity funds (the London based Stellican and the US based Wexford Management) serving as operating board member for several portfolio companies. Previously, Raffaele worked in investment banking for Goldman Sachs in London.

Raffaele graduated with honors in Finance and Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan.

Andrew Liau

Andrew is a Managing Director on the infrastructure team based in H.I.G.’s London office and co-heads the firm’s Infrastructure Fund. He has over 20 years of experience in private equity and investment banking.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Andrew was a Senior Managing Director in the infrastructure group at Ardian, where he led a number of successful core plus investments. Prior to Ardian, he was a founding member of First State Investments’ European infrastructure team. Andrew began his career at RBC, where he worked on infrastructure financings.

Andrew earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Prior to joining H.I.G. he was leading the DACH region for the Private Finance division of Barings. Before that, Sebastian was working at Ares Management.

Prior to joining H.I.G. he was a Founding Partner and Head of the UK at Bridgepoint Credit. Before that Michael spent over 20 years at ING, where he most recently served as Global Head of Financial Sponsors.

He has over 25 years of European real estate experience. Prior to H.I.G., he was a Managing Director and Investment Committee member at EQT Exeter. Prior to EQT, Alessio spent 16 years at AXA Real Assets where he was a member of the Executive Committee. He previously held positions at Cushman & Wakefield and for the real estate development company AIG/Lincoln.

Alessio holds a M.Sc. in Economics from the University La Sapienza, Rome.

Mathilde has over sixteen years of performing and distressed credit investing experience in Europe. She has successfully completed a number of investments at all levels of the capital structure and in a broad range of industries. She joined in 2011 from Nomura where she worked on European senior and mezzanine debt investments.

Mathilde graduated from HEC Paris business school.

Gian Matteo has 5 of experience in a broad range of industries with particular focus on the industrial and ICT sectors. Prior to joining H.I.G., Gian Matteo worked for Bain & Company where he focused on supporting the design and implementation of strategic initiatives for international clients.

Gian Matteo earned his undergraduate degree and Master of Science degree at Bocconi University.

Pascal, based in London, is a Managing Director and Head of H.I.G.’s European WhiteHorse Fund.

Pascal has 24 years of experience including 16 years in the European direct lending market. Prior to joining H.I.G., he was a Managing Director at Alcentra, where he was a founding member of the European direct lending platform. Before Alcentra, he was with Deutsche Bank and Charterhouse in London.

Pascal earned an MSc in Management from ESSEC Business School.

Alastair Mills

Alastair is a Managing Director in the London office of H.I.G. Capital and the European head of Business Services. He focuses on both private equity and distressed investments. Alastair joined H.I.G. Capital from Gresham LLP where he was a Partner in the London Investment team focused on growth buy-out and buy and build transactions in the UK lower mid market.

Prior to Gresham, Alastair worked for the UK private equity teams of RBoS and Bridgepoint Capital. A British national he has a total of nineteen years private equity experience in the UK lower mid-market. Recent transaction experience includes the acquisition of Petrochem Carless, the turnaround of Smallsteps, the MBOs of Brand Addition, Synseal and Kondor and the corporate carve-outs of Fibercore (from Cisco) and Brand Addition (from 4imprint).

Alastair has an MSc in International Securities Investment & Banking from the ISMA Centre, Reading University and is a Member of the Securities Institute.

As a senior business development officer, he has primary responsibility for managing key relationships throughout the Southeast region. He has over fourteen years of principal investing, corporate finance, and valuation experience across a broad range of industries.

Prior to joining WhiteHorse Capital, Jay spent nine years at River Capital, an Atlanta-based private equity firm focused on control investments in lower middle market companies where he was responsible for the origination and execution of equity investments to support acquisitions, management buyouts, recapitalizations and growth financings. In addition, Jay sat on the Board of Directors of several River Capital portfolio companies.

Jay received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Georgia, an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business, and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Max is a Principal based in Milan with responsibility for sourcing and executing real estate transactions in Italy and Germany.

Max has been working on European real estate for twenty years, seventeen of which as a Principal in various private equity real estate institutions. Most recently, Max was responsible for the Italian office for Goldman Sachs Real Estate Merchant Banking Asset Management, where he was responsible for the sourcing and management of a variety of real estate assets and investment strategies. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Max worked for Warburg Pincus and Apollo Real Estate Advisors. Max started his career in JPMorgan Real Estate Investment Banking.

Max holds a B.A. in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan.

Johannes Natterer

Johannes Natterer

Dr. Johannes Natterer is a Managing Director in our London office. He started his career with the Hoechst AG/Celanese AG where he worked as a plant manager in the basic chemicals division and as a Six Sigma Black Belt. He then joined McKinsey & Company and worked as an engagement manager on restructuring and efficiency enhancement projects in various industries. At his last position before joining H.I.G. in 2008, Johannes led an effort for global production site optimization with the specialty chemical company Degussa AG/Evonik AG. At H.I.G., he focusses on chemical investments as well as restructuring and operational improvement topics.

Johannes has obtained a PhD in physical chemistry at the University of Bonn after studying in Berkeley, Berlin and Bayreuth.

Tom Newman

Tom is a Principal based in the London office, and Head of H.I.G. Bayside European trading and sourcing. He focuses on European distressed and special situation credit investments.

Tom has over 10 years of experience focused on credit investments and trading. Before joining H.I.G., Tom worked in the markets division of Lloyds Bank, where he focused on the trading and sale of distressed and high yield securities and was instrumental in the bank’s asset sell down program after the financial crisis. Prior to Lloyds, Tom worked at Lehman Brothers Europe.

Tom received a B.B.A. from the University of Bath and a M.Sc. in Finance from Bayes Business School where he graduated first in his class with distinction and Phi Beta Kappa honors. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Prior to joining H.I.G., he was a partner and founding member of Pamplona Capital where he led a number of successful investments. Prior to Pamplona, Markus was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs and was co-head of the financial sponsors group in London. He started his career in mergers and acquisitions with Merrill Lynch in New York.

Markus graduated with honors with an MA degree in Economics from Northwestern University.

Prior to joining H.I.G Realty, Carlo worked at Hines, focusing on investment, fund and asset management activities across a broad spectrum of transactions, ranging from large development projects to portfolio acquisitions.

Mihai has 10 years of experience in infrastructure private equity covering a broad range of sectors including transportation, energy, telecommunications and healthcare. Prior to joining H.I.G. Infrastructure, Mihai was a Vice President with DWS Infrastructure, the private equity infrastructure strategy of Deutsche Bank’s listed Asset Management unit, where he was involved in the origination, execution and asset management of a number of European core plus investments.

Mihai earned a Diploma in Business Administration from the Goethe University in Frankfurt and is a CFA charterholder.

Michael is a Director in the infrastructure team and is based in the London office. Previously, he spent four years as a member of the H.I.G. Europe Buyouts private equity group, where he focused on the Industrials and TMT sectors. He is responsible for all aspects of the investment process and represents H.I.G. on several portfolio companies.

Prior to joining H.I.G., he worked for five years with Parthenon EY as a strategy consultant. Before Parthenon EY, Michael was with Arthur D. Little working with multi-national FTSE/Euronext 100 travel, transportation and construction clients on strategy and performance improvements.

Michael earned a First Class MEng in Aeronautical Engineering from Imperial College London.

Duncan has over twenty five years of investment banking and distressed debt experience across a broad range of industries across Europe. Prior to joining Bayside, Duncan was at Strategic Value Partners, a special situations and distressed debt hedge fund, for six years where he was a Managing Director and Head of European trading. Prior to this, Duncan was at Houlihan Lokey, a leading financial restructuring advisory firm, for four years, where he was a Senior Vice President. Prior to Houlihan Lokey, Duncan spent six years working in European mergers and acquisitions at Lazard and Morgan Stanley.

Duncan holds a Bachelor in Science in Economics and Accounting from Bristol University.

Klaas Reineke

Dr. Klaas Reineke is a Managing Director in the Hamburg office of H.I.G. Prior to joining H.I.G., he was as a Director with KPMG's Restructuring Advisory Services in Munich where he advised management and owners of numerous mid-sized companies in crisis situations; he also supported a number of Private Equity transactions, both on the buy and sell side.

Before KPMG, Klaas worked as an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company in Berlin and Singapore. He led numerous consulting projects for large corporations as well as for financial investors and their portfolio companies in the areas of strategy development and operational performance improvement.

Klaas holds a master-equivalent degree in Business Administration as well as a diploma in Journalism from the University of Fribourg (Switzerland), where he also obtained a PhD in Business Administration. He is fluent in English and French.

Rick is Co-President of H.I.G. Capital with over twenty-five years of private equity and M&A experience. In his current position, along with Brian Schwartz, he directs the day-to-day operations of the firm and sits on the investment committees for all H.I.G. funds.

Since joining H.I.G. in 1998, he has been involved in all aspects of the investment process; and has held leadership positions in several of the firm’s funds.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Rick worked at General Electric Company and GE Capital. As part of the Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions team, he coordinated a variety of strategic acquisitions in the financial services, plastics, medical systems, electronics, and aerospace industries. Previously, Rick was a member of the GE Corporate Finance Staff, where he helped design and implement improved business strategies and operating processes for GE Capital business units.

Rick received his undergraduate degree with honors from Stanford University and earned his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Tareck Safi

Tareck is a Managing Director in the London office, with responsibility for European real estate debt investments.

Prior to joining H.I.G., he was head of commercial real estate debt investments for EMEA at PIMCO, focusing on private transactions. He previously held senior positions at Societe Generale and RBS, both on the public side, in the asset-backed trading team, and on the private side, as head of European CMBS structuring.

He has 22 years of investment and financial services experience and holds a master's degree in finance from the London School of Economics. He also has a statistics degree from ENSAE and an engineering degree from the Ecole Polytechnique.

Esteban Caja Samboal

Esteban is a Managing Director with responsibility for sourcing and executing real estate transactions in Spain and Portugal.

Esteban has been investing in European real estate for more than twelve years, most recently as a Principal at Aermont Capital, focusing on Spain and Portugal, where he was responsible for the acquisition and management of a variety of real estate asset classes and investment strategies. Prior to Aermont (previously Perella Weinberg Real Estate), Esteban worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland´s Structure Property Finance Team, and before that in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group of Lehman Brothers in London. Esteban started his career at McKinsey & Company in Madrid.

Esteban holds an M.B.A. degree from NYU Stern School of Business and a B.A. in Economics and Business Administration from University Carlos III of Madrid.

Prior to H.I.G., Halvor spent eight years at Tristan Capital Partners, working on investments, asset management and disposals across the Nordics and the U.K. His projects included larger redevelopments, urban revitalisation, office, retail, logistics & light industrial. Dario Sassanelli

Dario Sassanelli

Dario is a Director in the Europe Real Estate Team and is based in the Milan office, where he focuses on Asset Management in Southern Europe (Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece). Dario has 10 years of experience in real estate markets, specializing in value added and opportunistic investments. Prior to joining H.I.G., he was with Prelios SGR S.p.A. focusing on fund and asset management for core plus and value added investments.

Previously, he was a Senior Asset and Investment Manager at Redbrick Investment Group. Before that, he was a Fund Manager in Generali Real Estate SGR where he managed two value added funds with a focus on residential and office refurbishments and developments.

Dario holds a MSC in Civil Engineering from Polytechnic of Bari and an executive master in Real Estate from SDA Bocconi.

Adam Schimel

Adam Schimel

Mr. Schimel is a Managing Director and Co-Head of H.I.G.'s U.S. Bayside Capital credit and special situations fund. Mr. Schimel has led several successful investments for the firm and currently sits on the Investment Committee for the Bayside U.S. funds.

Mr. Schimel has more than twenty years of credit and special situations investment experience. Before joining Bayside, Mr. Schimel was an Associate at Lindsay Goldberg, a middle market private equity investment firm. In this role, he was responsible for investment analysis and working closely with the management of portfolio companies to execute strategic initiatives. Prior to Lindsay Goldberg, Mr. Schimel worked in the leveraged finance group at Goldman Sachs.

Mr. Schimel received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Economics from Duke University and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Brian Schwartz

Brian Schwartz

Brian is Co-President of H.I.G. Capital. He joined the firm in 1994. In his current position, along with Rick Rosen, he directs the day-to-day operations of the firm and sits on the investment committees for all H.I.G. funds.

Since joining H.I.G. in 1994, Brian held a number of leadership positions at the firm.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Brian worked in PepsiCo’s strategic planning group. His responsibilities included managing strategic acquisitions for PepsiCo and evaluating new business opportunities. Brian began his career with the investment banking firm of Dillon, Read and Co. where he split his time between the corporate finance group and the private equity funds, Saratoga Partners and Yorktown Partners.

Brian earned his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and his B.S. with honors from the University of Pennsylvania.

Andrew Scotland

Andrew Scotland

Andrew Scotland, based in London, is a Managing Director and co-heads the firm's European non-control distressed corporate debt activities.

Andrew is focused on European non-control distressed corporate debt situations, and is involved in all aspects of the investment process from origination and research to structuring and execution.

Andrew has twenty-two years of investment banking and distressed investment experience. He previously worked as a Managing Director in RBS’s Special Situations Group for more than six years, where he was the senior analyst focused on European distressed investments. Before RBS, Andrew was a Director in the Equity Research department of ABN AMRO; and prior to that was in the top ranked Institutional Investor research teams at Citigroup and Credit Suisse.

Andrew is a CFA charter holder and a graduate of Oxford University.

Fritz Simons

Fritz Simons

Fritz is a Director at H.I.G. Capital and is based in the Hamburg office, where he focuses on private equity and growth equity investments particularly in the business services, TMT and industrials sectors. Fritz is responsible for all aspects of the investment process.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Fritz was Co-Founder of a global venture backed by Rocket Internet and worked in business development roles across numerous e-commerce companies based out of
Berlin, Germany.

Fritz earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and an MA in Economics and Management from the University of Oxford.

James Smith

James Smith

James Smith is a Principal based in H.I.G.’s London office. He works within the real estate asset management team, and specialises in U.K. and European real estate.

James’s career spans more than 20 years, having held senior positions in private equity and real estate investment businesses, covering all aspects of asset management, property development, acquisitions and disposals. Prior to working with H.I.G. he was an Executive Director and European Head of Asset Management for specialist retail investor and developer Thor Equities, where he oversaw the €2 billion European portfolio. Before Thor Equities, James was responsible for the M&A team of Atrium European Real Estate, where he was responsible for acquisitions and disposals throughout the European portfolio of €3 billion. Earlier in his career, James worked for Goodman and Europa Capital in various transaction and asset management roles.

James holds a BSc (Hons) in Urban Property Surveying from Northumbria University.

Nate Stinchcomb

Nate is a Principal at Bayside Capital. Based in Dallas, Nate is involved in the investment process through underwriting, structuring and closing new credit investments, as well as monitoring existing investments and assisting in portfolio management activities.

Nate has over eighteen years of credit investing and investment banking experience in a broad range of industries, including retail, power generation and gaming. Prior to joining the WhiteHorse team in 2004, Nate held investment banking and corporate lending positions at Credit Lyonnais, Sanwa Bank and Wells Fargo.

Nate received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas and also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Stelios Theodosiou

Stelios Theodosiou

Stelios is a Managing Director of H.I.G. Realty based in London. He has more than fifteen years of real estate principal investment experience, employing both equity and credit opportunistic strategies across a broad spectrum of real estate asset classes across Europe. His experience includes distressed acquisitions (e.g. NPLs and REOs), operating platforms, corporate restructurings, portfolio break-ups, property developments and forward acquisitions.

Prior to H.I.G., Stelios was a Director with Deutsche Bank’s European credit structuring & trading teams and a senior originator in the real estate direct lending business with a focus on special situations. Prior to that, he was a member of Deutsche Bank’s Alternative & Real Assets opportunistic investment team based in London.

Stelios holds an undergraduate degree in Operational Research & Marketing from Athens University of Economics & Business and a Master in Business Administration from INSEAD.

Alexander Thorn

Alex is a private equity Principal based in H.I.G.'s Miami office. He is responsible for all aspects of the investment process including sourcing, transaction structuring, financing, and implementation of post-closing growth, operational and add-on acquisition strategies. With nearly a decade of private equity experience, Alex has made investments across a wide range of industries including business services, industrials, technology and consumer/retail in both the U.S. and Europe.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Alex worked at Harvest Partners, a mid-market private equity firm, and at BHI Energy, where he led a variety of strategic initiatives. He began his career in M&A at Wells Fargo Securities.

Alex earned his M.B.A. from the Wharton School and his undergraduate degree cum laude from Princeton University with a B.S.E. in Operations Research & Financial Engineering.

Laurent Vaille

Laurent Vaille

Laurent is a Principal at H.I.G. WhiteHorse based in the London office. He focuses on the French market and is responsible for all key aspects of private debt transactions, including deal origination, transaction structuring and negotiation, and post-closing portfolio company oversight. He has 13 years of experience in direct lending and corporate finance.

Prior to joining H.I.G., he was an Executive Director in the Private Debt division of Tikehau in Paris. Before that, Laurent worked at Ernst & Young and Deloitte Finance.

Laurent holds an MSc in International Strategy Management & Consulting from Audencia Nantes School of Management.

Hendrik Worschech

Hendrik Worschech

Hendrik is a Director at H.I.G. WhiteHorse. He is responsible for transaction underwriting and execution, and post-closing portfolio company oversight with a focus on the DACH region.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Hendrik worked for J.P. Morgan in London and was a Vice President in the Leveraged Finance team. Hendrik has extensive experience in underwriting financings for sponsor-backed companies in a broad range of industries.

Hendrik earned a BSc in Economics from the University of Warwick in the UK.

Chris Zlatarev

Chris Zlatarev

Chris Zlatarev is Managing Director of H.I.G. Realty Partners based in London and is responsible for originating and structuring real estate investments across Europe.

Chris has over 15 years of principal investing experience across value-add, opportunistic, special situation and credit real estate strategies and has led both equity and debt transactions for H.I.G. across multiple real estate sectors and geographies. Previously, Chris was a Partner at Kildare Partners and also held investment roles at Varde Partners and AIG Global Real Estate.

Chris holds a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Drexel University.
